Cebu City, known as the Queen City of the South is located in Region VII, Central Visayas, Republic of the Philippines. Philippines "Sugbu", the original name of Cebu is another travel destination that was discovered in 1521 by a Spanish voyager Ferdinand Magellan, who made a blood compact with Rajah Humabon, his family and all villagers. Cebu's famous festival is the "Sinulog" or then called Cebu's Pahina River. One of the biggest and grandest festival held every third sunday of January is a dance ritual in honor of Cebu's patron saint Señor Sto. Nino. This festival starts with the procession, street dance and the well loved Mardi Gras - themed parade. In relation to this festival is the annual celebration of "Kadaugan sa Mactan" on every twenty-seventh of April at Punta Engano, Mactan Island .
